About the WESTCONN INTERNATIONAL TRADE ASSOCIATION
HISTORY
Westconn International Trade Association was founded in February, 1972, responding to a direct need for trade assistance in Westchester County, New York, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Today, there are no geographic boundaries, but the Association's name is indicative of WEST for Westchester County and CONN for Connecticut. Since the formative year of 1972, Westconn has enlarged its scope of activities and has steadily increased its membership from a modest beginning of 20 members to several hundred members. Westconn was incorporated into a non-profit, tax exempt membership corporation in 1979 and functions under the corporation laws of the state of Connecticut.
PURPOSE
The purpose of Westconn International Trade Association, Inc., is to create an industrial and academic awareness of the importance of international trade to our national economy and to serve its membership in all aspects of world trade, exports, imports, domestic and
foreign government regulations.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Foster the development of national and international trade policies.
Support helpful legislation and obtain modification of such laws, rulings, and regulations that are found harmful to international trade.
Promote and conduct educational programs on subjects relating to international trade.
Stimulate and establish a dialogue among its members on such matters as exploring new markets, development of concepts, techniques and procedures that can lead to expanding trade importance.
Cooperate with other organizations on matters of international trade importance.
Promote the general welfare of its members.
