Mr. Lauriat published over 3,000 by-lined articles, one book, sixteen chapters to other books, and wrote or researched four television specials in addition to coordinating three conferences and exhibitions in China. He has been moderator or speaker at various international trade and transportation events over the past 20 years.
Mr. Lauriat previously worked in Asia, based in Hong Kong, in the early 1970s through 1985 where he traveled and wrote for The Far Eastern Economic Review in addition to other publications such as The Financial Times, The Times, The Guardian, International Herald Tribune, Fairplay, Seatrade, and Lloyds Shipping Economist. Mr. Lauriat’s articles have also been reprinted in a wide variety of publications around the world.
While covering various aspects of the shipping and energy industries, he worked in approximately 45 countries - most of Europe, the South Pacific, and the Far East, including Russia’s Pacific ports.
Mr. Lauriat, grew up in Massachusetts, both his father, a harbor pilot in Boston harbor, and grandfather were seafarers.
